Today in Ecuador parents of 40 young people slain by federal police during the 1980s when the country was ruled by Leon Febres-Cordero held a memorial for their lost loved ones, launching kites with their loved ones' photographs. Nine generals and police officers accused of repression during the rule of the former dictator are presently standing trial for their crimes. teleSUR
