Texas Ebola Patient Dies In Hospital

Hospital officials have confirmed that a patient who was being treated for the Ebola virus in Texas has died. Thomas Eric Duncan had traveled to the U.S. to visit his family.

Hospital officials have confirmed that Thomas Eric Duncan, a patient who was being treated for the Ebola virus in Texas has died.

The medical facility released a statement noting “He fought courageously in this battle. Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing.”

Duncan was the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in the US and the first to die from it in the country. Duncan initially went to the emergency room on September 26th with stomach pains and a low grade fever and was sent home.

Two days later, he returned to the facility by ambulance and remained there until he succumbed to the disease. Everyone who is known to have had contact with Duncan is now being checked for symptoms.

Four of his family members remain in quarantine inside a Dallas residence. Duncan could have contracted Ebola while taking an ill neighbor to the hospital in Liberia prior to his arrival in the U.S.
