The Eiffel Tower in Paris is one of the most iconic and popular tourist attractions in the world.

After undergoing renovations, the first floor of the tower now has a new glass floor that looks down to the street 200 feet below.

The $38.4 million renovation also includes the addition of a museum about the monument’s history, along with solar panels to heat some of the water that is used by the building.

: Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo reopened the updated first floor to visitors on Monday.

Around seven million visitors flock to the Eiffel Tower every year, with 75 percent of them being from other countries.

Standing at one thousand sixty feet high, the tower was built for the World’s Fair in 1889.

It was originally planned to last for only twenty years, but has stood the test of time with only two previous major renovations.

Other recent changes include measures to make the Eiffel Tower more sustainable, like a rainwater collection system to provide water for the bathrooms, and the use of LED lights to save energy.
