PETA Encourages Putting Alleged Cannibal Killer On A Vegan Diet

If PETA had their way, accused killer and cannibal Joseph Oberhansley would be put on a vegan diet.

If PETA had their way, accused killer and cannibal Joseph Oberhansley would be put on a vegan diet.

The Indiana man is being held at the Clark County Jail on allegations that he murdered his ex-girlfriend and then ate parts of her body.

Recently, the area’s acting sheriff received a letter from the activist group suggesting that while detained, Oberhansley be given foods completely devoid of animal products.

In it they cite instances where violence among prison inmates decreased after they were fed vegetarian meals.

It’s their feeling that cutting the accused’s access to all animal-derived fare, “…could diminish that bloodlust and might even help protect staff and neighboring inmates.”

Since receiving the suggestion, the sheriff has expressed his outrage that PETA would treat an appalling crime in this manner.

He’s stated that the letter is an affront to the family of the victim and upon first reading it he thought it was some kind of ‘cruel joke’.

PETA said their intention wasn’t to offend, but to take the situation as an opportunity to do some good.

It’s their belief that the diet switches they recommend would result in a less violent world.
