Imaginary Lines: The Many Dimensions of Herbert Marcuse

Today's program looks at the life, work, and contributions of Herbert Marcuse on the 50th anniversary of the publication of his classic One Dimensional Man. Marcuse was a Marxist philosopher, part of the Frankfort School, whose concerns and scholarship on the dehumanizing effects of capitalism and modern technology inspired New Left thinking. Imaginary Lines host Chris Spannos interviews sociologist Laura J. Miller on how the book applies to today's consumer culture and social media.
