Colombian senate debates alleged links of Uribe to paramilitarism

A debate was held in the Colombian Senate regarding ties between politicians and paramilitary groups. Senator Ivan Cepeda, of the Democratic Pole, pointed out that there are at least 84 charges against ex-president Alvaro Uribe for such ties. Uribe, who was President of Colombia from 2002 to 2010, faces charges for his presumed relations with the Medellin Cartel as well as for encouraging paramilitary forces. teleSUR
