An 11.5-foot long alligator that is suspected of eating a dog has been found in Florida. On late Wednesday night, a nuisance alligator trapper captured the beast, allowing residents to relax.

Two days prior, at about 8 a.m. on Monday, Eric Glover was outside walking his pit bull puppy named King around a local lake. Glover and his 55-pound pooch were just about to head back home when the gator came out of the water and snatched the dog.

The reptile quickly pulled King underwater. Glover lost sight of his puppy right away. He elaborated on the traumatic ordeal stating “I couldn't do nothing. I froze, and I am like, 'Oh, my God. That is a gator.' Like, my instincts, 'That is a gator eating my dog.' I was shocked.”

According to Glover, his dog never made a sound during the abrupt attack. In the two days that followed, the gator was on the loose.

Now that the creature has been caught, local residents and pet owners will be able to breathe a little easier. There are several homes near the lake in addition to a trail, often used by children, that circles the area where the attack occurred.
