The schoolgirl was involved in a collision with the tram in Dublin's city centre earlier today.

The incident occurred on the 'Red Line' outside the Jervis Street shopping centre before 9am this morning.

Commuters and passers-by rushed to the teenager's aid, and attempted to push the Luas away from the platform in a bid to free her.

The girl was eventually freed and was rushed to hospital - her injuries are not life-threatening.

It is understood that the girl - whose age is not known - suffered leg injuries and was removed to the Mater Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The attached footage, filmed by Łukasz Piguła and published to Facebook, shows the moment that the girl became trapped beneath the tram.

Elsewhere, at 7.15am this morning, a Red Line tram destined for the city centre collided with a bread van at a stop in Bluebell.

Traffic on the Naas Road and the Kylemore Road was affected briefly as a result.

According to a LUAS spokesperson, both incidents were minor and all services are now operating as normal.
