In Austin, Texas, local officers are going to start handing juvenile do-gooders a ticket – one that’s redeemable for a 7-11 Slurpee.

Typically when the police hand somebody a piece of paper it’s not good news.

In Austin, Texas, however, local officers are going to start handing juvenile do-gooders a different kind of ticket.

They’re calling the program ‘Operation Chill’.

Icy beverage earning deeds include random acts of kindness and being helpful.

Some specific actions and activities being considered are wearing bicycle helmets, stopping crime, and becoming involved in the Police Athletic League.

Said a senior police officer of the initiative, "We want to have communication with these children and in a good light. Not when they're getting in trouble for something or in the back of our police cars because we have to take them to jail. We want to build those relationships early so it doesn't get to that point."

When the program rolls out, authorities will make a habit of travelling around with the special ticket books.

Kids who want to grab one of the Slurpee vouchers need to start paying it forward fast, as the offer will expire at the end of the year.
