US whistle-blower Edward Snowden has been granted a three-year residence permit from Russia.
He has already been living there for over a year and, according to his solicitor, would be eligible to apply for citizenship after five years.
Snowden was forced to seek asylum after being accused by the US of espionage and stealing documents.
