00:01:30You've heard the story about the boy who cried wolf?
00:01:41Well, I used to be like that boy.
00:01:45I'm Nick Andrews, and I was always making up stories to get attention.
00:01:50Mom and Pop never really believed me, but my little sister, Amy, did.
00:01:55And well, I guess that's one of the reasons I made them up.
00:01:59The story I'm going to tell you now, this actually happened.
00:02:03It was a warm spring night.
00:02:06Right there, right above Old Man Phelps' garage.
00:02:10That's where I saw it hovering.
00:02:12And then, a shaft of light came out of the bottom of it.
00:02:16And three tiny men walked out the shaft like it was stairs.
00:02:20What did they look like?
00:02:21They were green, and they had these great big heads and big black eyes.
00:02:26Then what?
00:02:28Then Old Man Phelps came out of the back door and started talking to them.
00:02:31What were they talking about?
00:02:34I'm not sure exactly.
00:02:36But Old Man Phelps turned around and pointed right here, to this very window.
00:02:43What's wrong?
00:02:44They might see us.
00:02:47They're not there now.
00:02:49Girls.
00:02:52Dinner's ready.
00:02:57I'm in a hurry.
00:02:58Burgers and fries?
00:03:00Any objections?
00:03:01Nope.
00:03:01Yummy.
00:03:02Let me see those hands.
00:03:04You go wash those hands before you sit down to dinner.
00:03:09Amy, use the napkin.
00:03:18Not so much ketchup, Nick.
00:03:23Did you know that Old Man Phelps is friends with aliens from outer space?
00:03:28Outer space?
00:03:30Nick said he saw a UFO land in Old Man Phelps' backyard.
00:03:35Amy, it's Mr. Phelps, not Old Man Phelps.
00:03:39That's being disrespectful.
00:03:42Mr. Phelps and Old Mr. Phelps was talking to them.
00:03:48And all of a sudden, he points at our window.
00:03:51Maybe they want to abduct us to another solar system.
00:03:55Nick, how many times have I told you not to tell those outrageous stories about ghosts
00:04:00and aliens from outer space?
00:04:02You're scaring your little sister.
00:04:05But it's true, Mom.
00:04:07I really did see a spacecraft.
00:04:09It was right above Old Man, uh, Mr. Phelps' garage.
00:04:14Nick, what am I going to do with you?
00:04:16You got in trouble at school for making up that story about a ghost in the auditorium.
00:04:22I want to hear about the ghost!
00:04:23Never mind.
00:04:25And now you're scaring your little sister with these ridiculous stories about UFOs.
00:04:30When your father gets back...
00:04:32When's Pop coming home anyway?
00:04:34Next week.
00:04:36Why does he always have to go away all the time?
00:04:38That's his job.
00:04:40He's a salesman, and salesmen have to travel.
00:04:46I gotta go.
00:04:48Amy, when you're done, rinse off your dishes and put him in the dishwasher like I showed you.
00:04:53Okay.
00:04:54What does Nick have to do?
00:04:55He's going to help.
00:04:57Then he's going to do his homework.
00:05:05And I want you both in bed before nine o'clock.
00:05:08Do you hear?
00:05:09Yeah.
00:05:10How much longer are you going to work nights?
00:05:12Just till the end of the month.
00:05:16If you only knew how much I hate to leave you alone at night.
00:05:20Eh, we'll be okay.
00:05:22And I'll be home by four.
00:05:26And no more scary stories, do you hear?
00:05:29Yeah, yeah.
00:05:29You're going to give your little sister nightmares.
00:05:32Love you.
00:05:33Love you, bye!
00:05:35Can I hear about the ghost now?
00:05:46What do you have?
00:06:07Oh, the same thing the lady's having.
00:06:10Why don't you get her another one too?
00:06:13I usually buy my own drinks.
00:06:16Suit yourself.
00:06:19Thanks.
00:06:25I don't think I've ever seen you in here before.
00:06:27That's right, you haven't.
00:06:30What's your name?
00:06:32Vincent.
00:06:33Walter Vincent.
00:06:36I don't like it.
00:06:38Yeah, neither do I, but I'm stuck with it.
00:06:41And yours?
00:06:43Virginia.
00:06:45But my friends call me Ginny.
00:06:47So what brings you in here?
00:06:50I'm thirsty.
00:06:53Yeah.
00:06:55Me too.
00:07:06You're on my tab.
00:07:18Do you stare at all women like that?
00:07:20Just once in a while.
00:07:22Wow.
00:07:23You don't waste any time, do you?
00:07:26Not when I know what I want.
00:07:29What is it that you want?
00:07:32I want to have a good time.
00:07:35Yeah, don't we all?
00:07:37Don't we all?
00:07:41Come on.
00:07:43Do you think we should go have a good time?
00:07:46I do.
00:07:52Let's go.
00:08:05My car's in back.
00:08:08Oh, no, that's okay. We'll take mine.
00:08:10You really want to do that?
00:08:12Yeah.
00:08:13In case I get bored, I could always dump you and go home.
00:08:16And where does that leave me?
00:08:18Guessing.
00:11:04Hey, kid.
00:11:27What are you doing?
00:11:35Why the alley?

00:15:35You're gonna tell her?
00:15:37No.
00:15:39Where'd you go?
00:15:41Just around.
00:15:43Don't go back then.
00:15:45I was having a nightmare.
00:15:47I woke up when I heard you come in.

00:18:54Are you Nick Andrews?
00:18:56Who is it, Nick?
00:18:58Oh.
00:19:00You must be Mrs. Andrews.
00:19:02Yes.
00:19:04Sorry to wake you, Miss Andrews, but I found Nick's bike.
00:19:06Luckily, it had this address tag on it.
00:19:08Why, Nick, I'm surprised at you.
00:19:12Leaving your bike like that?
00:19:14What on earth would ever make you do a thing like that?
00:19:17He loves his bike, Officer.
00:19:20It's his favorite thing.
00:19:23I can't believe you leaving your bike lying around like that.
00:19:26Where was it?
00:19:28In the alley around the corner.
00:19:30The alley?
00:19:32I thought I told you not to go near that alley.
00:19:35I'm very sorry for your trouble, Officer.
00:19:38No trouble. Happens all the time.
00:19:41In the future, I'd stay away from alleys if I were you, Nick.
00:19:44He will, won't you, Nick?
00:19:47I'm sure he will.
00:19:49Right, Nick?
00:19:52Thank you, Officer...
00:19:54Vincent. Walter Vincent.
00:19:56Goodbye, Miss Andrews.
00:19:58Goodbye, Nick.
00:20:10Well, what have you got to say for yourself?
00:20:12Are you going to answer me?
00:20:15The policeman was in the alley last night.
00:20:17Last night? You were in the alley last night?
00:20:20With your ten-year-old sister alone in the house?
00:20:22I'm sorry, Mom, but the policeman...
00:20:24Is sorry all you can say?
00:20:26Do you realize the danger you put yourself and Amy in?
00:20:28Yes, Mom, I said I was sorry.
00:20:30Sorry isn't good enough.
00:20:32You deliberately disobeyed me.
00:20:34I said I was sorry, but I...
00:20:36Mom, please, listen to me.
00:20:38Listen to you?
00:20:39Listen to me.
00:20:40No, you listen to me.
00:20:42I'm locking up your bike until your father gets back.
00:20:44And when he hears about this, I guarantee you he's not going to like it.
00:20:50Shit.
00:20:54Shit.
00:20:56Shit.
00:21:17If it's Dad you're worried about, it'll be okay.
00:21:20I'll put in a good word for you.
00:21:23I wasn't thinking about Dad.
00:21:25Then what were you thinking about?
00:21:30I saw something in the alley.
00:21:32Something I wasn't supposed to see.
00:21:34I tried to tell Mom, but she was too angry to listen to me.
00:21:38She wouldn't have believed me anyway.
00:21:40What'd you see?
00:21:41Another UFO?
00:21:44No.
00:21:45Something scarier.
00:21:48A lot scarier.
00:21:50But you have to promise not to tell anyone.
00:21:53Not Mom, not Dad, not anyone.
00:21:55I promise.
00:21:58I saw a murder.
00:22:00A murder?
00:22:01It was this man and this woman.
00:22:03It looked like they were kissing.
00:22:05And then he put his hands around her throat,
00:22:08and he pressed down really hard until she died.
00:22:12And he tried to drag her body out of the car, and that's when he saw me.
00:22:15He saw you?
00:22:16I was hiding behind a trash can.
00:22:18I was scared, scarier than I've ever been in my entire life.
00:22:22And I knocked the trash can over when I tried to run.
00:22:25And that's when he saw me.
00:22:29I'll never forget that look in his eyes.
00:22:32He wanted to kill me too.
00:22:34So I ran, faster than I've ever run in my entire life.
00:22:42And he knows where we live.
00:22:44He's the cop who brought my bike back.
00:22:46Oh no! What are we gonna do, Nick?
00:22:49I don't know.
00:22:51You gotta tell Mom.
00:22:52I can't.
00:22:54She won't believe me.
00:22:56She never believes me.
00:22:59She'll think I'm making up another story.
00:23:01Then I'll be in even more trouble.
00:23:03But you weren't making it up.
00:23:04You were there. You actually saw it.
00:23:06Sure I saw it.
00:23:07But who's gonna take my word over a cop's?
00:23:10I believe you.
00:23:12Thanks.
00:23:13I know, if they found a body, they would have to believe you.
00:23:16Wouldn't they?
00:23:18I guess.
00:23:19But they haven't found one yet.
00:23:21At least it wasn't on the news.
00:23:24Only three people know about the murder.
00:23:27Me, the murderer, and you.
00:23:42Come on, Amy!
00:23:50This is Detective D'Angelo. He can help you.
00:23:54Is there something I can help you with?
00:23:56We'd like to talk to whoever's in charge.
00:23:59Mind telling me what this is all about?
00:24:01Murder.
00:24:03It's about the missing woman.
00:24:05So you have information on her, is that it?
00:24:07Yes, sir.
00:24:10Come with me.
00:24:11I'm Detective Baxter.
00:24:13Detective D'Angelo's the one who's in charge.
00:24:14Yes, that's me.
00:24:16You are the police's leader?
00:24:18Yes, I am.
00:24:20You're a good person.
00:24:21You're not just a code-kid.
00:24:22You're an inspiring person.
00:24:23And you're gonna do good for the people who need you.
00:24:25Good luck, Detective.
00:24:28I was the one who showed up with someone who was in charge.
00:24:31You are the one who was involved.
00:24:33That's right, D'Angelo.
00:24:35And you are the one who went and saw Mrs. Martin.
00:24:37That's right.
00:24:38I'm Detective Baxter, and you are?
00:24:43I'm Nick Andrews, and this is my little sister, Amy.
00:24:47Detective D'Angelo tells me you have some information on the missing woman, is that right?
00:24:51Yes, sir.
00:24:52You know where she is?
00:24:54Well, not exactly. You see, she's dead.
00:24:58She's dead?
00:25:00Yes, sir. She was choked to death in a car.
00:25:04How do you know?
00:25:06I was there. I saw it happen.
00:25:08Where?
00:25:09In an alley near my house.
00:25:12You saw someone choke a woman to death in the alley?
00:25:15Yes, sir. A man. He saw me too, but I got away.
00:25:19Do you know him? Can you describe him?
00:25:22It was a cop.
00:25:24A cop?
00:25:26His name was Officer Vincent. Walter Vincent.
00:25:30You saw Officer Vincent choke a woman to death in an alley?
00:25:34Yes, sir.
00:25:35And you're positive it was him?
00:25:37Yes, sir. I'll never forget his face for as long as I live.
00:25:41When did you see this?
00:25:43Sunday night.
00:25:45Was he in uniform?
00:25:47No. He was wearing a regular shirt and pants.
00:25:50Then how can you be sure that it was actually Officer Vincent?
00:25:53Because he brought my bike back the next morning.
00:25:56Brought your bike back?
00:25:59Yeah. You see, when I was in the alley, he started to come after me.
00:26:04I got so scared that I threw out my bike.
00:26:07He was wearing a uniform then.
00:26:09A uniform?
00:26:11Yeah. A blue one cops wear when they give out tickets.
00:26:15Nick, don't you think it's a bit odd that a murderer would show up
00:26:19the next morning at the home of the only eyewitness to the crime
00:26:23in a police uniform?
00:26:25I mean, if he really was a murderer?
00:26:27I guess so.
00:26:29Can you describe the woman?
00:26:30I really couldn't see her that well, but she had a tattoo on her shoulder.
00:26:34What kind of tattoo?
00:26:36It looked kind of like a butterfly.
00:26:39Have you told anyone else about this? Your mother? Your father?
00:26:43No, sir.
00:26:45My dad's away on business, and my mom, well, she wouldn't believe me anyway.
00:26:50She's always accusing me of making up stories.
00:26:53Why don't you tell Mr. Baxter about the UFO you saw over Old Man Phelps' garage?
00:27:00Nick, you need to understand something.
00:27:04Accusing somebody of murder is a serious thing, especially a police officer.
00:27:08You've got to be certain. You've got to be real sure.
00:27:12I'm sure it was him.
00:27:14All right. All right. We'll check into it.
00:27:17Thanks for coming in.
00:27:22By the way, where's your mother?
00:27:25Where's your mother?
00:27:26Oh, she's working a temporary shift, and she won't be home till four in the morning.
00:27:31I'll have Detective D'Angelo drive you home.
00:27:38Phone call, line three.
00:27:47Take it easy, Nick. And good night, Amy.
00:27:50Bye.
00:27:55Bye.
00:28:06Nick, look out!
00:28:14Whoa, Nick, that guy was crazy!
00:28:25Oh, my God!
00:28:56Oh, my God!
00:29:06No! No, don't kill me!
00:29:09Nick!
00:29:10I won't say anything! I won't talk!
00:29:12Nick, wake up!
00:29:15Nick, it's okay. You were having a nightmare.
00:29:19No, he's trying to kill me!
00:29:21Who?
00:29:22Officer Vincent!
00:29:24Why would Officer Vincent want to harm you?
00:29:26He murdered that woman!
00:29:28What woman?
00:29:29The one in the alley with the tattoo!
00:29:31Oh, Nick, what am I ever going to do with you?
00:29:34It's true, Mom!
00:29:36Nick, I don't know why you keep making up these outrageous stories,
00:29:40but as soon as your father gets back home,
00:29:42we're going to take you to the doctor and find out what's wrong with you.
00:29:45It's not a story! I was there!
00:29:48Mom, you've got to tell the police!
00:29:50Drews, you stop it! Stop it right now!
00:29:54I've got a ton of paperwork to do,
00:29:56and I've got to get to work or I'm going to be late.
00:29:58Dinner's on the stove.
00:30:00Amy's already eaten and had two slices of pie,
00:30:03so don't let her have any more.
00:30:06You've had quite a day, little man.
00:30:09You'll feel better tomorrow.
00:30:11Now you eat a good dinner and go to bed early.
00:30:15You hear?
00:30:17I'll be home a little after four.
00:30:33You're incapable. You don't have what it takes.
00:30:36You're incomplete.
00:30:48Hey, hey, come on. Take it easy.
00:30:53Jeez, I'm not going to bite.
00:30:56At least not yet.
00:31:18What is wrong with you?
00:31:42Okay.
00:31:45Okay.
00:31:47What's wrong with you? Are you some kind of funny guy?
00:32:14I'm sorry.
00:32:44I'm sorry.
00:33:14I'm sorry.
00:33:40Morning.
00:33:41Morning.
00:33:42Can I ask you, uh, how's the investigation going on in that missing woman case?
00:33:46Dead end. It's nothing.
00:33:50No witnesses? Nobody's seen anything?
00:33:52If there is, nobody's come forward.
00:33:54Ah, it's terrible.
00:33:57And not a prince on the car either.
00:34:00How'd you know that?
00:34:04One of the lab boys told me.
00:34:06He said whoever it was was savvy enough to wipe the car clean.
00:34:10That's right. Somebody knew what they were doing.
00:34:13Doesn't leave us with much, does it?
00:34:16Look, do you mind if I do some poking around, see what I can dig up?
00:34:19In my off hours, of course.
00:34:21I didn't know you were that interested in the case.
00:34:24I just want to nail the bastard who killed her.
00:34:27Who says she's dead?
00:34:31Well, it's obvious, isn't it?
00:34:33Is it?
00:34:34Well, sure it is. I mean, she disappears, the car's found abandoned.
00:34:38Smells like a homicide to me.
00:34:41Yeah, you're probably right.
00:34:43Go ahead, see what you can dig up. Who knows, we might get lucky.
00:34:48If you find anything, make sure you coordinate with Hendrix.
00:34:51Sure.
00:34:54Make sure I give him everything I got.
00:35:08Hey, Nick, where are you headed?
00:35:26Is that knee still bothering you?
00:35:31Hop in, I'll give you a ride.
00:35:33No.
00:35:34Something bothering you, Nick?
00:35:37You can tell me, I'm your friend.
00:35:38You're not my friend. You killed that woman.
00:35:41Now what makes you think I would do a thing like that?
00:35:44I saw you. You saw me, and that's why you tried to kill me yesterday.
00:35:48That wasn't me, Nick. That was somebody else.
00:35:52It was you.
00:35:57I'll tell you what, I'm going to put all my cards on the table here.
00:36:01You went down to the station, you did some talking.
00:36:04You shouldn't have done that.
00:36:07It's a very bad thing, Nick.
00:36:10Now let me tell you straight here, there is no evidence.
00:36:14The only problem is that you saw me.
00:36:17Now that puts me in a very precarious situation, Nick.
00:36:23Say, what's your sister's name again? She's a really cute kid.
00:36:27I'd really hate for anything to happen to her.
00:36:29You leave my little sister alone.
00:36:32Well that all depends on you, Nick. Do you understand?
00:36:37I said, do you understand?
00:36:41Yeah. Yeah, I get it.
00:36:44Now yesterday, that was just a warning.
00:36:48But I think you know what's going to happen to you next time.
00:36:51Now I'm going to be watching you.
00:36:54Not every day, but you'll never know when.
00:36:59Have a nice day, Nick.
00:37:02Woo, hola mami. Let me check out the merchandise.
00:37:28Oh, hello.
00:37:30Say, how much you charge?
00:37:33If you need to ask, you can afford it.
00:37:35Oh, is that so? Well, when do you get off?
00:37:39About five minutes after I get on.
00:37:42Oh, just what I like. A woman that takes her time.
00:37:46Hey, I'll see you out there, Marilyn Monroe.
00:37:50Oh.
00:38:05Wynn, this is Mr. McLennan.
00:38:07He says he saw the missing woman the night of her disappearance.
00:38:10Come in, Mr. McLennan. Sit down, sit down.
00:38:16So where'd you see the woman, Mr. McLennan?
00:38:19At the bar, mug shots on 3rd Street.
00:38:22I was watching the telly, and I recognised her right away.
00:38:26Especially when they mentioned she had a tattoo of a butterfly on her shoulder.
00:38:30And I said to myself, Mac, that's the girl you saw at the bar the other night there.
00:38:35Well, what time was it?
00:38:36Mm, about 12.30.
00:38:38Was she alone?
00:38:39Huh? Alone? No.
00:38:42She's one of the loose ones. She knows how to work the barstools.
00:38:45I've seen girls like her in every bar I've drank in.
00:38:48Wait a minute. There was a guy. Tall fella.
00:38:52Getting kinda cozy with her.
00:38:54And when she got up to leave, he followed her.
00:38:57Can you describe him?
00:38:59Ah, tall, brown hair. About 180 pounds.
00:39:04Ever seen him before?
00:39:06Nah. He's not a regular.
00:39:09Thanks for coming in, Mr. McLennan.
00:39:11No problem.
00:39:13What happened?
00:39:15Ah, my wife, Mary-Kate. She's Irish, you know.
00:39:18Got a really bad temper.
00:39:20Doesn't like my drinking.
00:39:22So she let me have it with a potato masher.
00:39:24She's a tough lassie, you know. She plays soccer.
00:39:27Cheers, guys.
00:39:33Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
00:39:35Yeah, description fits Vincent alright.
00:39:38About half the other guys in this town.
00:39:40What about the boy's statement he saw Vincent murder the woman?
00:39:43Yeah, he also said Vincent was wearing a uniform the day he brought his bicycle back.
00:39:47Uniform? Vincent doesn't wear a uniform.
00:39:50That's right, he doesn't.
00:39:52That pretty well cuts the kid loose as a creditable witness, doesn't it?
00:39:56Still not enough.
00:39:58Without a body, we got nothing to pin murder on Vincent or anybody else for that matter.
00:40:02Besides, we got no fingerprints.
00:40:04Boys from the lab went over to the car with a fine-tooth comb and couldn't pull up one print.
00:40:08Somebody was savvy enough to wipe the thing clean.
00:40:10Couldn't put a tail on him.
00:40:13No, he'd smell that in a minute.
00:40:17So what do we do?
00:40:19Give me everything you can on Vincent.
00:40:21And I mean everything.
00:40:23I want to know if this guy ever so much as littered, spit on the sidewalk or crossed against the light.
00:40:27You got it.
00:40:42You got it.
00:41:13That uniform doesn't change a thing.
00:41:16You're still hollow inside.
00:41:35Happy anniversary!
00:41:37We've been friends for ten years!
00:41:42Charlie!
00:41:53Charlie!
00:41:55I have to go.
00:41:57See you later!
00:41:59Okay, bye!
00:42:12Bye!
00:42:30Hello!
00:42:32What's your name?
00:42:34Amy. Amy Andrews.
00:42:38And this is Barbie.
00:42:39She's one of my best friends.
00:42:41Say hello to the nice policeman.
00:42:44What's your name?
00:42:48I'm Officer Johnson.
00:42:51Are your parents home?
00:42:53My dad's away. My mom's asleep.
00:42:55She has to go to work tonight at seven.
00:42:58So she works at night?
00:43:00Only for a couple more weeks.
00:43:02Then she gets to stay home with me and Nick.
00:43:06So you're all alone?
00:43:08Uh-huh.
00:43:09Monday through Friday.
00:43:11It's kind of scary, but we understand.
00:43:14I'm sure it is.
00:43:16You're a very brave girl, Amy.
00:43:18How old are you?
00:43:20Ten and a half.
00:43:23Where's your brother?
00:43:25He's at the park. He plays baseball.
00:43:29Oh! There's the phone. I have to answer it when my mother's asleep.
00:43:39Hello?
00:43:41Hi, Daddy!
00:43:43Having a picnic?
00:43:47With Barbie and Charlotte!
00:43:49And a nice policeman.
00:43:52Officer Johnson!
00:43:54He's outside with Barbie.
00:43:57Oh, no. Everything's fine.
00:43:59You don't have to worry.
00:44:02At the park playing baseball?
00:44:06Asleep?
00:44:09Okay, Daddy.
00:44:11I miss you.
00:44:13When are you coming home?
00:44:15In a few days.
00:44:17I love you.
00:44:19All right. I love you, too, Daddy.
00:44:21Bye!
00:44:33I heard her scream!
00:44:35I thought something terrible happened.
00:44:37Who would do such a thing?
00:44:39Obviously some juvenile delinquent
00:44:41with nothing else better to do
00:44:43than run around breaking children's toys.
00:44:45It was that policeman!
00:44:47He murdered Barbie!
00:44:49Oh, Amy.
00:44:51Why would a policeman do that?
00:44:53Besides, the doll can be fixed.
00:44:57Kids. Such imaginations.
00:44:59Tell me about it.
00:45:01Well, I'm just glad it wasn't anything serious.
00:45:03It was!
00:45:07Come on, Charlotte.
00:45:09Thank you, Mrs. Levitt.
00:45:11Oh, sure.
00:45:13Bye, Amy. I'm sure he'll be okay.
00:45:19Amy, what did the policeman say his name was?
00:45:21Officer Johnson.
00:45:23Hello. Can you connect me to the police department?
00:45:27Hi. Can I speak to Officer Johnson?
00:45:29Thanks.
00:45:31Just, I thought...
00:45:33There is no Officer Johnson.
00:45:35I'm sorry.
00:45:37I'm sorry.
00:45:39I'm sorry.
00:45:41I'm sorry.

00:45:49I'm sorry.
00:45:51There is no Officer Johnson.
00:45:53Amy, are you sure that was his name?
00:45:55That's what he said.
00:45:57Officer Johnson.
00:45:59Why would anyone want to hurt Barbie?
00:46:15Paula.
00:46:17Paula.
00:46:21Paula.
00:46:35Vince, by the time you read this, I'll be gone.
00:46:37Don't bother trying to find me,
00:46:39because I won't be coming back.
00:46:41I think you know the reason why.
00:46:43Goodbye and good luck.

00:52:33Bye and good luck.
00:52:51What you doing kid?
00:52:59Nick, I got here as quick as I could, you said it was important.
00:53:11It is.
00:53:12It's about Officer Benson.
00:53:16What is it?
00:53:17I was walking home from the park, and he pulled up alongside me and said he wanted to talk
00:53:22to me.
00:53:23He confessed to killing that woman, and he said he'd do something bad to my little sister
00:53:27if I told anyone.
00:53:28Go on.
00:53:29Yesterday, Amy was playing outside with her dolls, and he came up to her and said his
00:53:35name was Officer Johnson.
00:53:38And then the phone rang, so she went inside to answer it, and then when she came out,
00:53:42he was gone, and the head was ripped off her Barbie doll.
00:53:46So I tried to follow him to see if I could find out anything.
00:53:50Followed him how?
00:53:51I followed him on my bike.
00:53:52It wasn't easy.
00:53:54Sometimes he was half a block ahead, but I managed to keep him in sight.
00:53:58And then he slowed down once he got onto Cherry Street, and that's when I caught up.
00:54:02And then he stopped at a construction site.
00:54:05A construction site?
00:54:07Yeah.
00:54:08He just got out and stared at it for a while.
00:54:11He stared at it?
00:54:13Yeah.
00:54:14He got in his car, and then he drove off.
00:54:17Why would he do that?
00:54:18I don't know.
00:54:19Look, Nick, you've been a big help, but let us take it from here, okay?
00:54:23If he contacts you or your sister again, I want you to call me right away, you understand?
00:54:27Yes, sir.
00:54:28Does your mother know you're here?
00:54:30No, sir.
00:54:31Come on.
00:54:32I'll give you a ride home.
00:54:53Why bother?
00:55:05You'd just embarrass yourself again.
00:55:09Hey, you look like you could use a ride.
00:55:22Hey, it's all right and all, but, you know, you look like you've been walking for quite
00:55:30a while.
00:55:31How do I know that you're not some kind of a pervert?
00:55:56You don't.
00:55:57Seriously.
00:55:58Do I look like a pervert?
00:56:02No.
00:56:03Get in.
00:56:04Come on.
00:56:05Get in.
00:56:06So, where to?
00:56:07Spring and Cherry.
00:56:08Spring and Cherry?
00:56:09Yeah.
00:56:10We were going to go there.
00:56:11No.
00:56:12So where to?
00:56:25Spring and Cherry.
00:56:26Spring and Cherry?
00:56:27That's quite a ways away for someone to be walking so far so late.
00:56:35My boyfriend was acting like a jerk, so I just decided to walk home.
00:56:42There are other guys.
00:56:55I don't have to be home till midnight.
00:57:00Yeah, yeah, I got them right here in front of me.
00:57:07The tenth time I told you that stuff's not mine!
00:57:10Yeah, I will.
00:57:11And for the tenth time, what was it doing in your pocket?
00:57:16How should I know?
00:57:17Tom.
00:57:18I had it in the bathroom.
00:57:19Well, I'll just have to wait a while.
00:57:33Got some news.
00:57:34You asked me to do some digging on what I could find about Vincent.
00:57:37Well, I dug, and I found some very interesting things.
00:57:41When Vincent was a patrolman with the Phoenix Police Department, he was married to a woman
00:57:45named Paula Taylor.
00:57:46They weren't married long.
00:57:48She divorced him.
00:57:49Some sort of an irremediable medical problem.
00:57:52Medical problem?
00:57:53Impotency.
00:57:54Really?
00:57:55I did some more digging.
00:57:58About three weeks after they split up, a woman was reported missing.
00:58:02They found her car, but they never found her.
00:58:05Not a trace.
00:58:06About a month later, he quit the department and comes out here.
00:58:11I dug even deeper.
00:58:13I showed the photograph to the bartender at Mug Shots.
00:58:15He remembered seeing Vincent.
00:58:17That's two witnesses that can tie Vincent and the missing woman the night she disappeared.
00:58:22And here's something else.
00:58:23The Andrews kids said that Vincent confessed to murdering the woman, and then threatened
00:58:27him and his sister if they said anything about it.
00:58:29I tell you, the kid's got a lot of moxie.
00:58:32Last night, he said he followed Vincent over to a construction site on Cherry Street.
00:58:36Construction site?
00:58:37Yeah, he said Vincent just stared at it and looked at it for quite a while.
00:58:40Why would he go to a construction site in the middle of the night?
00:58:45Unless...
00:58:47He had a reason.
00:58:49Like a body.
00:58:50Exactly.
00:58:51Get over to that construction site and go over it with a fine-tooth comb.
00:58:54And I want a tail on Vincent.
00:58:55I want to know where this guy is 24-7.
00:58:57If he so much as goes to the can, I want to know it.
00:59:03Really don't want to do this.
00:59:04Really.
00:59:05I don't.
00:59:06But you can't laugh at a man the way you laughed at me and expect to get away with it.
00:59:17You see, a man needs respect.
00:59:23It's just something a woman doesn't understand.
01:00:23I don't give a damn what the Planning Commission says.
01:00:49I got the blueprints right here in front of me that they approved.
01:00:52Yeah?
01:00:53Well, they better get on it quick.
01:00:55We're pouring concrete in that last section first thing tomorrow morning.
01:00:59Let me know ASAP.
01:01:03And what city commission are you with?
01:01:06Detective Hendricks.
01:01:07Police Department.
01:01:08Geez.
01:01:09Now what?
01:01:10Take it easy.
01:01:12I'm here on another matter entirely.
01:01:14You know, the damn Planning Commission approved these plans a year ago.
01:01:18Now all of a sudden, now they want to argue over the cost.
01:01:20Go figure.
01:01:22Now what can I do for you?
01:01:28If somebody did throw a body down one of these shafts, we'd never be able to find it now.
01:01:32Have all the shafts been filled?
01:01:33No, there's that area over there that's in dispute.
01:01:35We're supposed to start pouring concrete there tomorrow morning, but who the hell knows what's
01:01:38going to happen.
01:01:39Can we take a look?
01:01:40Sure.
01:01:41When?
01:01:42Just left the construction site.
01:01:43You find anything?
01:01:44Nothing.
01:01:45Big fat goose egg.
01:01:47That body was here.
01:01:48It's part of the city hall project.
01:01:49No way we'll find that body now.
01:01:50Damn.
01:01:51Then we'll have to go at this from a different angle.
01:01:52Listen, Vincent comes on at six.
01:01:53Put a tail on him.
01:01:54Maybe we'll get lucky.
01:01:55Okay.
01:01:56And whatever you do, don't let him spot you, okay?
01:01:57Got it.
01:02:46This is Pamela.
01:02:54She's going to stay with you while I'm at work.
01:02:56You're to mind her and do what she tells you to do.
01:02:59You understand?
01:03:00And Nicholas, you're not to leave this house.
01:03:04Don't worry, Ms. Andrews.
01:03:05We won't have any problems.
01:03:07Will we?
01:03:08Okay.
01:03:09Okay.
01:03:10You want to do this the easy way or the hard way?
01:03:39Afraid your buddies at the station will find out you're not all man?
01:04:09I don't know what you're talking about.
01:04:10I don't know what you're talking about.
01:04:11I don't know what you're talking about.

01:04:46Dispatch, this is Hendricks.
01:04:48Pass me through to Baxter.
01:04:49Detective Hendricks for you, sir.
01:04:52Baxter.
01:04:53Wynn.
01:04:54Hendricks.
01:04:55I just followed Benson to an abandoned warehouse over on Largo Street.
01:05:00He just went inside.
01:05:01Think he knows he's being tailed?
01:05:03No, I don't think so.
01:05:06He just kind of looked around like he didn't want to be seen.
01:05:09Well, stay with him.
01:05:10And if you think he sees you, back off.
01:05:13And if you think he sees you, back off.
01:05:15And don't take any unnecessary chances.

01:07:27I want an APB out on Vincent.
01:07:29I want him brought in now and keep trying to find Hendrix.
01:07:32Yes sir.
01:07:34Well, he asked me out twice, well, I have to say no.
01:07:37Cause my mom doesn't want me dating until I'm at least 17.
01:07:39Can you believe it?
01:07:41It's 17, a whole year more.
01:07:44She says there's more important things.
01:07:47Like grades?
01:07:48Yeah, grades.

01:11:36Hello?
01:11:37I mean, fine. The kids are asleep. Yeah, sure. Bye.
01:11:52Unless you want to feel that again, you'll be quiet.
01:11:54Where are we going?
01:11:57That shouldn't concern you. You're not coming back anyway.
01:12:02So, you're gonna kill me too?
01:12:05You think? You're the only witness.
01:12:11Got rid of the body, nobody's ever gonna find that.
01:12:14But you? You could put me on death row, and I'm not gonna have that.
01:12:20No, I've gotta get rid of you too.
01:12:23How are you gonna explain that to Detective Baxter?
01:12:29I told him what you did to that woman in the alley.
01:12:32He's gonna know that you killed me.
01:12:35Nah, he won't know that either.
01:12:38Nobody saw me take you out of the apartment.
01:12:42They'll just figure you wandered off. On your own.
01:12:48So, you're gonna bury me in cement too?
01:12:51No. Detective Hendricks has been snooping around the construction site.
01:12:57It seems that they think that there's a body there.
01:13:01I can't figure out how they would get that.
01:13:04There's only one person who might know, and that person's you.
01:13:10But how did you know?
01:13:13I followed you after your shift.
01:13:17I watched you get out of your car and stare at the construction site.
01:13:22So, I figured you'd bury the woman's body there.
01:13:25And I told Detective Baxter.
01:13:30Pretty good.
01:13:33Pretty smart. A little too smart.
01:13:37Should've just left it all alone.
01:13:39I warned you, but you didn't listen.
01:13:43And that is why I have to kill you.
01:13:54Anything from Hendricks?
01:13:55Nothing. Maybe he went for a dinner break.
01:13:57Check out. We're going for a ride.
01:14:02No.
01:14:17Try that again, I will kill you right here in the car. Do you understand?
01:14:33It's on, Nick. I'm gonna have to change my plans.
01:14:39I'm gonna have to kill you somewhere else.
01:14:43You're scared.
01:14:46They'll catch you sooner or later.
01:14:48And you know that.
01:14:50That's why you're scared.
01:14:52Yeah?
01:14:53Well, you ought to be doubly scared.
01:14:55Because you know I'm gonna kill you as soon as I have a chance.
01:14:58So shut up.
01:15:04Are you gonna strangle me too?
01:15:09No.
01:15:12I'm gonna cut your throat.
01:15:28Get out.
01:15:58I'm gonna kill you.
01:16:29Hey!
01:16:42Ready or not, Nick, here I come.
01:16:58Nick!
01:17:19He must be inside.
01:17:29Nick!
01:17:55She's getting you now, Nick.
01:17:58Get up!
01:18:28Nick!
01:18:51Wynne, over here!
01:18:58Nick!
01:19:02Nick!
01:19:28Nick!
01:19:58Nick!
01:20:28Nick!
01:20:58Nick!
01:21:28Nick!
01:21:58Nick!
01:22:28Nick!
01:22:34Nick, come on, come on, it's okay.
01:22:38It's alright. He's dead.
01:22:40He's dead.
01:22:57He's just got a little bit of bruising. He'll be alright.
01:23:01Pretty tough kid you got there, Mrs. Anders.
01:23:03Hadn't been for him, we'd have never caught Vincent.
01:23:05Oh, Nick.
01:23:06Can you ever forgive me for not believing you?
01:23:10Never.
01:23:24Pamela.
01:23:29I'm home.
01:23:30Oh, hi, Mrs. Anders.
01:23:33The kids are asleep. Everything's fine.
01:23:36Fine, thank you.
01:23:38Now you go back to sleep.
01:23:45What are you doing?
01:23:46Taking the shortcut.
01:23:47Well, I'm not going to go through that alley.
01:23:49I'll take the long way.
01:24:08Okay.
01:24:26Have you seen a little white dog answers in the name of Duke?
01:24:29No.
01:24:30Well, if you do, I live three houses down.
