The Man from Planet X
(1951) When a celestial object appears headed toward Earth and an extraterrestrial lands his ship in a remote Scottish locale, it's not your typical "alien invasion". Indeed, the strange visitor has come seeking help for his freezing planet--only to receive a less-than-warm welcome on ours.
Director Edgar G. Ulmer and company deliver a more thoughtful (and sombre) slice of sci-fi than one usually gets from the 1950s, and managed it with only six days' shooting on sets left over from (of all things!) 1948's "Joan of Arc".
