The owners of the Alphabet Academy Learning Center, a daycare facility in Salem, Oregon, have admitted that they and staff members smoke marijuana while working.

They say it’s for medical purposes and everybody involved carries a card that clears them for such use.

Further, when they medicate it’s done behind a zipped partition so the children are unable to see them.

The woman in charge of the facility also stressed that there is always an adult present who is not under the influence, just as the business license specifies there must be.

However, despite what that license outlines as proper operating procedures, state law dictates that no grown up under the effects of the drug, “may be in the home when child care children are present.”

Following a report from a concerned citizen, authorities came and shut the center down while an investigation takes place.

It’s estimated that the process could take about 30 days.

The owner isn’t worried about the outcome. She said, “They're going to talk to the children and they are going to find out for themselves we haven't done anything inappropriate. We followed the rules.”
