A woman in Connecticut, 83-year-old Estelle Samek, got straight to the point when she saw an intruder in her home.

Reflecting on the incident, she remarked “There was this man standing there with his hands in my husband’s dresser drawer, so I looked at him and I said, ‘Who the hell are you?’ And I turned around and ran and he ran behind me and he tackled me on the stairs and he slammed me into the table and into the wall and he took off.”

The suspect made off with jewelry and cash, but Samek's husband, who had been mowing the yard during the crime, managed to call police right away. Officers arrived swiftly and were hot on the culprit’s trail.

29-year-old Luis M. Ortiz was apprehended by West Hartford police following a lengthy foot chase that involved numerous K-9s in Newington. Ortiz is now facing a laundry list of charges including ‘home invasion, first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, assault on an elderly person, third-degree criminal mischief and interfering with an officer.’

Samek later said she is thrilled Ortiz is behind bars and that she could have hugged every cop who participated in the chase.
