The story about a 3-year-old disfigured girl getting asked to leave KFC may not be true. The family of three-year-old Victoria Wilcher initially posted about the alleged incident on social media, saying a restaurant staffer asked them to leave because the small girl’s facial scars, resulting from a pit bull mauling, were disturbing other patrons.
At first, netizens were outraged and KFC immediately launched an investigation, but thus far the findings aren’t matching the story. According to a source, surveillance footage from May 15th shows that no children matching the description of Victoria were in the Meadowbrook or Woodrow Wilson KFC restaurants in Jackson.
In addition, no orders of mashed potatoes and sweet tea were served during the time period. That’s what Victoria’s grandmother claimed to have ordered.
Jackson, Mississippi, franchise owner Kirk Hannon remarked “we have so far not been able to verify the incident in our internal investigation, we have also hired a third-party consultant to conduct an independent investigation to help us resolve this matter.”
A source close to the family has released a statement on Facebook, saying the story is not a hoax and pointed out KFC has not completed the investigation. The Wilchers have reportedly received gifts and over $130,000 in cash since the KFC story went viral.
KFC has also vowed to donate $30,000 to the family for medical expenses, regardless of what the probe reveals.
