Woman Hit By Train While Taking Pictures On Tracks

A woman was recently hit by a train in St. Augustine, Florida. According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the female had been standing on the tracks taking photos at the time of the incident.

A woman was recently hit by a train in St. Augustine, Florida. According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the female had been standing on the tracks taking photos at the time of the incident.

The woman, identified as 33-year-old Sonnie Lee Smith, was very fortunate to survive the accident. She did, however, encounter numerous lacerations as result.

She was treated at the scene by St. Johns County Fire Rescue staffers before being transported to a local hospital. After that, she was transferred to another medical facility via an air ambulance.

Smith was alert and talking prior to being hospitalized. She reportedly told police she had been standing on the tracks snapping photos of the Florida East Cast Railway train as it traveled southbound.

Smith claimed she didn’t remember anything after she was clipped by it. Smith is now recovering in the hospital.

Her condition has not yet been released. The accident is currently under investigation by the Florida East Coast Railroad police.
