Sorrow is so persistent
He knocks at my door, determined to come in
But I hold on to that vain hope
That all is not bad in this world
Where flowers grow without being picked
Where animals live without being harmed
Where insects have some existence in the eyes of mankind
My heart hurts and feels so old
Ready to give up, to forget
Childhood memories of something better
Something to live for
If I can bear another day
To see my children try to flourish under my sadness
To live and breath for them
To learn to love again
I know I love them
