Two 12-year-old girls are now in police custody after being accused of repeatedly stabbing a friend over an obsession with a mythical character. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier have both been charged as adults for attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

The stabbing occurred in the woods of Waukesha, Wisconsin. According to the criminal complaint, the unidentified 12-year-old victim was stabbed 19 times by either Geyser or Weier, or possibly both girls.

The two suspects allegedly lured their friend out to the woods in an elaborate plot to kill her. The police report says the girls started planning the murder in February after spending time on a website that posts horror stories.

Geyser and Weier wanted to impress someone going by the fictional alias of ‘Slenderman’ who they thought ran the site. The girls believed if they killed someone, they could get into the good graces of ‘Slenderman’.

A sleepover was held at one of the suspect's houses on the night before the attack. The following day, the two girls lured the victim into the woods where she was held down and stabbed over and over again in the torso, legs and arms.

Geyser and Weier left her there for dead, but she managed to crawl to a sidewalk where a bicyclist found her and called for help. She is now in the hospital.

Geyser and Weier are being held on $500,000 bail each.
