Choreography for three dancers, TROIS SOUFFLES (THREE BREATHS) is an unprecedented exploration of the potential of breath as choreographic material. TROIS SOUFFLES finds it's source in the creation of breath scores from three major choreographic works : Hommage à la Argentina by K. Ohno (1977), Mammame by J.C. Gallotta (1985) et O.D.I.L by O. Duboc (2006). The dancers marry their breath to the respiratory signatures given by the score, including the sound and the vibration emanating from the dance, and creating a new dance uniquely from the breath line. An original and striking way of citing these choreographers, this project brings forth new questions: what is a respiratory movement, and can we re-dance it ?
