A woman in West Virginia has had her faith in humanity restored. Cindy Chichick-Prettyman is in dire need of a new kidney. Her name was placed on a transplant list but she was informed the wait is extremely long.

When Cindy’s son, Jeremy learned his mother could have to wait between 5 and 10 long years for a kidney, he posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a donor. His mother had no clue what he had done.

Once the ad hit the classifieds site, a woman in Ohio, 56-year-old Jacklyn Mellott stumbled across it. Mellott works as a house flipper and is constantly on Craigslist and she’s also a woman who has always thought about donating a kidney.

When she spotted the ad, she took it as a sign that this was her chance. Mellott immediately called Jeremy and told him she wanted to donate.

Not long after that, Jeremy broke the news to his mom pertaining to the Craigslist ad. At first, Cindy thought the kind stranger was crazy, as she didn’t know her blood type or any other crucial facts.

Amazingly, doctors later revealed they are a match. The odds of that happening are about one out of 100,000.

The women are hoping the surgery will be carried out this summer, maybe earlier. A local church recently held a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Prettyman to help pay for Cindy’s medical expenses.
