Egypt has held a ceremony at Cairo International Airport to mark the return of three stolen, ancient artefacts, seized in Germany in 2009.

Berlin has handed over the items, thought to date back as far as 2300 BC.

The three objects – a miniature obelisk, part of a shrine and a family monument – were found by customs officers concealed under carpets in a truck, apparently being smuggled into Belgium to be sold.
