Serbia seeks to strengthen ties in Central Asia

00:01Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić came to Kazakhstan on Friday to deepen diplomatic
00:05ties which celebrate 30th anniversary this year.
00:08With Kazakh counterpart Kasem Žomar Tokaev, they discussed cooperation in trade, transport,
00:13energy, industry, agriculture, digitalization and AI.
00:17We can see and learn, and I think we have a good theme for this development of cooperation
00:24between Kazakhstan and Serbia.
00:25In a joint statement, the sides noted positive trade dynamics and agreed to promote its
00:30balanced and sustainable growth.
00:32Over 2025, the trade turnover between the two countries grew 7.6%, reaching 91 million euros.
00:39Import from Kazakhstan to Serbia grew 80.4%, from 13.5 to 24 million euros, while export
00:46declined 6.1% to 67 million.
00:50The visit to Astana proves that President Vučić is intending to keep the promise he gave at
00:54the EU enlargement summit to intensify their relations with Central Asian countries.
00:58This visit marks the fifth one a Serbian leader makes to Astana.
01:02Closer ties are also expected to grow since Kazakh Skat Airlines launched a direct flight
01:07from Astana to Belgrade in November of 2025.
01:10To celebrate President Vučić's contribution to strengthening partnership between the two countries,
01:15President Okhaev awarded him with the Golden Eagle Order the highest state decoration of Kazakhstan.
