Iconic buildings worldwide go dark to mark WWF's 'Earth Hour'

The lights were turned off at landmarks across the globe on Saturday as countries took part in Earth Hour.
More than 7,000 cities and towns worldwide were cloaked in darkness for up to 60 minutes in support of environmental issues.
The annual event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature, or WWF, started in Sydney, Australia in 2007.
This year, non-essential lights were switched off in more than 150 countries. The dark period is supposed to be between 8.30 and 9.30 at night.
Some of the most famous buildings taking part were the Eiffel Tower in Paris, London’s Houses of Parliament and Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer.
