Kevin Gray, a father of three daughters, just found out last year that he was going to need a kidney transplant and decided to take to the streets to promote organ donor awareness.

Gray is quoted as saying: “It’s not just about me. It’s about having people sign up to be donors. Just that one person stopping makes it worth standing out here.”

The publicity stunt has garnered much attention, including many people signing up to become live donors based on the prompt from Gray’s sign or the group’s social media presence.

Without a live donor, the waiting list in Oregon reportedly takes three years to receive a kidney from a cadaver.
