The Department of Homeland Security is now searching for the next presidential limo design. On August 29th, a contract will be awarded to the designer with the best proposal for the limo.

The contract proposition, which was recently posted online by the U.S. Secret Service, noted that the proposal is being ‘restricted to Major domestic U.S Automobile Manufacturers, who have their primary headquarters located in the United States of America’.

Authorities are getting ready in advance for the 2017 election. By the time the next president takes office, the limo will be ready to go.

According to the Secret Service, the project is comprised of four elaborate phases. Phase 1, which pertains to armor development, has already kicked off.

The integration of that armor will occur in Phase 2 in addition to the selection of the chassis and the interior and exterior components, along with testing of those components.

The third phase is limited to vehicle validation while the fourth and final phase involves production of the limos. President Barack Obama's current ride is called ‘The Beast'.

The car is thought to weigh about 7 and half tons, due to the exceptionally heavy armor used in the construction.

The Beast comes equipped with a night vision system and plates that can easily stop an improvised explosive device. The trunk holds a blood bank which coincides with Obama’s blood type.
