According to a study by researchers at the University of Barcelona, some people aren’t emotionally moved when they hear music.

It is a rare condition called specific musical anhedonia, and the people who are affected by it do not get the same effects from listening to music that other people do, like emotional reactions or the desire to dance.

Researchers measured the heart rate and skin conductance of study subjects as a way to gauge their responses to different kinds of music.

The subjects with musical anhedonia reportedly got no pleasure from listening to music and showed no physical response.

The authors of the study wrote: “Importantly, what our findings reveal is not a particular preference for one class of stimuli over another, like one person may enjoy opera, while another may find it boring, but an inability to derive pleasure from an entire domain, music, which the vast majority of human populations do find pleasurable.”

They can still feel good from eating tasty food or having sex, but they are not wired to enjoy music.
