A 12-year-old boy from New Zealand, who suffers from a rare eye disease, will soon lose his vision, but before he does his parents want him to see the world.
A 12-year-old boy from New Zealand, who suffers from a rare eye disease, will soon lose his vision, but before he does his parents want him to see the world.
When asked where he’d like to go, Louie Corbett named a number of places, including the Empire State Building, Niagara Falls, and Google’s California base of operations.
The boy would also like to see his favorite sports team, the Boston Celtics, play.
His mother commented, “This year we’re going to try and fill his world with as many beautiful images as we can.”
As the plan grew, however, it began to develop some snags.
One was timing, as Louie has in the past year alone lost about half of is ability to see, making the trip’s timing more urgent.
That exacerbated another aspect of making the whirlwind sightseeing tour a reality – money.
Their fundraising campaign had a great response, but there were many uncovered expenses left in the plan. Luckily, those didn’t last very long.
The company run by the Corbett’s neighbor said they’ll cover the rest, and the family that owns the Celtics is making sure that part of Louie’s dream comes true.
