A man in Texas was recently found guilty in court of felony animal cruelty. The charge and subsequent conviction resulted from an incident in which 31-year-old Marc Saunders dragged a donkey with his vehicle.

The disturbing act occurred on October 25th of 2012. After learning that his friends’ donkey had wandered off of their property, Saunders volunteered to help retrieve it.

Once they’d located it, the man he was with said they should walk it home. In spite of how many times he was asked not to, Saunders tied Suzie Q to the back of his SUV with the intent of towing her back to the property using a rope.

During the trip, Saunders drove too fast.

At one point the animal fell on her side, but even then Saunders didn’t immediately stop. There was a blood trail in the street. Susie Q’s bone, in some places, was exposed.

When Saunders finally stopped the vehicle and saw she was harmed, he untied her and fled from the scene. Thankfully, Suzie Q survived the ordeal.
