Just because you lock your car, it doesn't mean you won't become a burglary target.

Police in Burbank, California are busy investigating a string of thefts which occurred over the course of one weekend. Thieves targeted the side mirrors on luxury cars and SUVs.

At differing times on Saturday and Sunday a handful of newer model BMW owners contacted law enforcement informing them that their side mirrors had been swiped. One Infiniti vehicle was also affected.

Given the short time span and the fact that all the vehicles were high end, police believe the same individual or group is behind the six thefts. The glass mirrors reportedly cost between 300 and 350 dollars each.

Investigators have urged residents to be on high alert, looking for anyone creeping around the sides of parked cars.

In the summer of last year, an increasing amount of side mirror thefts were reported in Burbank. In those cases, nearly 20 mirrors were taken off luxury models, 75 percent of which were from Mercedes-Benz owners.
