Intoxicated Priest Runs Over Churchgoer After Mass

A 66 year-old priest in Poland who got behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated is now facing up to 12 years in prison.

Inspite of all the dangers associated with drunk driving, far too many people still take that risk and pay the price.

A 66 year-old priest in Poland who got behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated is now facing up to 12 years in prison. The 41-year-old woman who was hit by the cleric had been walking home from his church service.

Following the accident, she was taken to the nearest hospital to receive treatment for a concussion. An official for the priest's diocese stated “This situation deserves condemnation and never should have happened. Priests have to follow the same laws as everyone else. He should not drive a car after drinking."

The priest in question was cited for drunk driving and had his license swiftly revoked. According to police, he was not arrested, as he was not considered to be a danger to the public and handed over all of his documents without strife.

As for the victim, she is doing as well as can be given the circumstances and is expected to make a full recovery.
