Man Proposes to Girlfriend While Being Arrested
32-year-old Justin Harrel, from Elk City, popped the question to his girlfriend, Elaina Rios, at the local holiday event known as "Christmas In The Park." The issue was that Harrel was in handcuffs while attempting to propose.
A romantic proposal is a dream come true for most women. For one lady in Oklahoma however, the proposition wasn’t exactly romantic but she still said yes.
32-year-old Justin Harrel, from Elk City, popped the question to his girlfriend, Elaina Rios, at a local holiday event known as "Christmas In The Park." The issue was that Harrel was in handcuffs while attempting to propose.
The officer responsible for the arrest had been trying to take Harrel in for two outstanding warrants. The cop recognized Harrel in the park and knew the circumstances of the case so he decided to make his move.
Little did the officer know the suspect had plans to propose. Once the cuffs were slapped on, Harrel asked the policeman for a few minutes with his girlfriend and told him about his hopes of popping the question.
It may have been the holiday spirit or the cop’s general soft heartedness but he agreed, even reaching into Harrel’s pocket for the ring.
Once news of the story spread,, the Elk City Police Chief approvingly commented on the occurrence saying it was “policing at its best with a heart.”
