Couple Married for 65 Years Dies on Same Day

In a heartwarming story, Eleanor and Frank Turner of North Carolina, who had been married for 65 years, recently passed away on the same day only hours apart.
In a touching story, Eleanor and Frank Turner of North Carolina, who had been married for almost 65 years, recently passed away on the same day just hours apart.
Adding to the rare occurrence, neither spouse knew of the other’s fate. 87-year-old Eleanor was the first to pass on at Hospice House in Monroe on a recent Friday.
Approximately 9 hours later, Frank died in a different care facility, completely unaware that his wife was already gone. The couple’s 65th wedding anniversary would have been on Christmas Eve.
The Turners daughter, Linda Purser stated “They didn’t give up. They had their share of fights, just like anybody else. But when it came down to everything in the end, they stuck together. They worked together as a team to do everything.”
Although the family is grieving, they are finding comfort in knowing they died on the same day, referring to it as the most ideal way for a loving couple to go.
Just one week prior to their deaths, they were hospitalized and wheeled into the facility on separate, but side to side stretchers. Although they didn’t speak, they held hands as nurses pushed them.
