Recently, a cow in Appin, Australia required help from human hands after getting its head stuck in a plastic patio chair.

Occasionally, all animals, domestic and otherwise unintentionally land in trouble. Recently, a cow in Australia required help from human hands after getting its head stuck in a plastic patio chair.

Workers from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales, or RSPCA NSW for short, arrived on the property to help the female cow. The opening of the chair, right underneath the arm, was lodged around the animal’s neck.

RSPCA authorities were thankfully able to remove the chair after the cow was tranquilized which may have saved her life because the furniture piece was preventing her from eating and drinking. Aaron Purcell, who works as an inspector for the RSPCA claimed no one was sure how the chair got stuck around the cow’s neck.

He stated ‘‘Other members of the herd were also visibly distressed by the cow’s predicament with several of them trying to remove the chair with their noses.’’

Although the animal was spooked, she will go on to make a full recovery. Directly following the incident, local residents were reminded to dispose or store old household items as they can be a danger to livestock.
