Dog Feces Signs in NYC Scheduled for Removal

New Yorkers are a little worried about the future of sidewalks, as dog feces signs are slated to be removed.
New Yorkers are a little worried about the future of sidewalks. Specifically, they’re scared dog feces will be left all over the place.
The reasoning for the slight panic is reportedly because the city plans to remove signs, which were previously up everywhere in the streets. They warned residents to clean up after their dogs, or face a hefty fine.
The city Department of Transportation has already taken down roughly 1,300 signs this year alone. Pretty soon, all of the remaining dog feces reminders will also be gone.
According to the Department Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, most of the signs are old and faded. Due to the age, the fine amount listed on many signs was incorrect.
City authorities seem to believe the removal process and aftermath is no big deal, citing that all dog owning residents are familiar with the clean up law, which was established in 1978. Today’s fine for violating it is $250, so locals were hoping for newer, accurate signs to be installed.
