Smokers Google Search Quitting More on Monday

According to research from a study that looked at Google search engine queries, people are more likely to type in something related to quitting smoking on a Monday compared with other days of the week.
According to research from a study that looked at Google search engine queries people are more likely to type in something related to quitting smoking on a Monday compared with other days of the week.
They looked at data from from 2008 to 2012 in English, French, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, and found that there were about 25 percent more searches related to quitting smoking on Monday.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that 70 percent of people who smoke cigarettes in the UnitedStates claim that they want to quit, and over half of them try to quit once a year.
John W. Ayers, a public health researcher at San Diego State University and lead author of the study said: “On New Year’s Day interest in smoking cessation doubles, but New Year’s happens one day a year. Here we’re seeing a spike that happens once a week.”
There were reportedly around 150 thousand more Google searches about quitting on Monday than other days of the week that had about 600 thousand searches.
