Megastar Amitabh Bachchan turns 71 today and while as expected tons of people wished him at the stroke of midnight, his birthday became all the more special when his almost two-year-old granddaughter Aaradhya sang a birthday song for him. Bachchan revealed this on his blog and also thanked everyone who wished him through it.

Taking to his blog, Big B wrote, "A strange calmness descends on the eve of the clock that strikes 12 midnight .. the family, the few that are in town, bring in the greetings, the 'little one' ably tutored sings a 'happy birthday' to herself first and then after suitable prompting, to me ... its these little moments that make up a birthday .. the bigger moments follow .. the gifts of love and affection from the Ef, from those that we know and cannot see or meet, from people on the streets as you pass by, from the crew on the set, from those that have lived and worked with me through the ages .."

"It cannot be any better than the presence of the heavens about me .. my well wishers .. they go through so much personal effort to prepare that personalised card that touch of handicraft, a little something, so thoughtfully put together ... the most expensive diamond in the world would not compare with this .. and I thank the english language for constructing this expression of 'thank you' or my own tongue in the gentleness of a 'anek anek dhanyavaad' ..," he further added.

Talking about aging process, the Shahenshah of Bollywood, wrote,"It is 71 now ... just last year or just the other day it was 70 ! The years seem to pass by faster now than they did before. There was a desire to push the pedal all along those early years , to mature, to become adult, to bring on greater age ... now you depress the brakes pedal with equal effort, and hope to stem the slide as it were .. no not I, I accept the years the giving up on time, on age ... it shall happen to us all .. that is the commonality of the process of life .. we are blessed, all of us ... !!Many that document moments wish for me to relive the past, give dimensions for the future, the plans now and beyond ..."

"How does one accomplish this ... do we really know the past in its reality, do we really ? And can there be a process to know the future, even if it were to be conjecture ? I would imagine not !! Many have better capability and succeed in doing so. Many do not. I am with the latter, and happy and content with it. Let what comes tomorrow lie in store, in oblivion and in frozen stone - better it be like that than melt away its originality to one that cannot be comprehended !! I embrace your being .. cling to it as close to my heart as possible .. its tepid warmth singes me with deep emotion, and my lips move to formation in addressing that one deep utterance ..," he concluded.
