Motorists in Metro Vancouver have recently received a warning concerning an abundance of minks that somehow escaped from their home, on a farm in rural Abbotsford.

Normally drivers have to keep an eye out for squirrels and other small animals. However motorists outside of Vancouver Canada recently received a warning concerning an abundance of mink that somehow escaped from a farm in rural Abbotsford.

It’s estimated that 500 mink are still on the loose. A local police authority claimed that several farmers, including the one who owns the flurry of mink, have grouped together to help herd the creatures and bring them back home.

Drivers were asked not to call police if a mink is spotted, however they were able to text the department with a location. Motorists were told to try to avoid hitting the animals.

Nearby chicken farmers have also been warned as the mink have a reputation for enjoying chicken meat. Law enforcement is looking into how the mink managed to escape but they do not believe any criminal activity was involved.

The mink owner reportedly has about 2,000 creatures on his property, meaning that a quarter of his animals are now missing in action. The mink business is booming in and around Abbotsford.

There are about 15 farms in the local area , which produce about 250,000 mink pelts per year.
