France prepares to punish Google over privacy policy

France looks poised to impose fines on Google for failing to adequately respond to a deadline on divulging its privacy policy.

France's privacy watchdog, known as CNIL, gave the search engine three months to provide more information about its use of personal data.

Google insists that it does respect European law.
