Driving Tests in D.C. Rescheduled Due to Shortage of Examiners

The DC Department of Motor Vehicles was recently forced to contact a large number of people to inform them that their booked roads tests have to be re-scheduled.
What does freedom mean to you? For a teenager, nothing signifies freedom more than getting a driver's license. Teens in one area of the country, however, are experiencing a major letdown.
The DC Department of Motor Vehicles was recently forced to contact a large number of people to inform them that their booked roads tests have to be re-scheduled. The reason for the put-off is due to a major shortage of road test examiners.
Those who have already booked their exams for a date on or before October 11th are being asked to call 3-1-1, which is the city’s call center or book another date for the test online.
The re-scheduling will reportedly affect roughly 800 people. Previously the District DMV used nine Virginia road inspectors who were responsible for about 1,000 road tests.
The city paid for the examiners' housing and salaries but they have since been called back to Virginia, leaving the district with only 2 test givers for the entire area.
A spokesperson for the DMV stated “The mayor did give us permission to create the positions to deal with the issue. We had almost 200 applicants and had to weed through the positions. All those things unfortunately take more than a week or two.”
