Investigators from the Athens County Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Team in Ohio recently seized approximately 50 pounds of marijuana from a private residence in Millfield.

Narcotics officials stumbled upon what is being referred to as a grow operation. The warrant for the home was issued after investigators received a credible tip that it was being used as a grow house.

Resulting from the major bust, 44-year-old Donald Gribbet was taken into police custody. The total street value of the marijuana was reported to be about $200,000.

Gribbet was quickly transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, but according to deputies, no one permanently lived in the home. Detectives believe the only purpose of the house was to grow and sell pot.

The top floor rooms of the home were being used for the processing the drug while the basement was where the marijuana was being cultivated.
A similar marijuana operation was recently discovered in Morgan County, Ohio. Investigators are currently trying to determine if the two cases are connected.
