The state of Nevada is being sued by the San Francisco City Attorney for allegedly providing one way tickets to California for around 500 psychiatric patients as a way to get rid of them.

City officials in San Francisco had been suspicious that this was happening, but they didn’t have enough proof to bring a lawsuit until now.

They are trying to get a court order that would forbid patients from being transferred to California unless there are arrangements made to have them taken care of, or if they are residents of the state.

The lawsuit is also trying to get half a million dollars in restitution for the money that San Francisco has had to pay in care for patients that were sent there from the Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital in Las Vegas.

Patients from Nevada were reportedly told to call 911, or given directions to a homeless shelter.

Officials in Nevada say that the Rawson-Neal Hospital has taken in 771 patients from California during the nearly five years being looked at by the lawsuit.

What do you think? Should Nevada have to pay for the care of patients that they sent to San Francisco?
