In one comical report, a dog in Canada called 911, accidentally ratting its owner out.

The Ontario Provincial Police recently received a 911 call from a residence located in Ottawa’s Trenton Ward neighborhood. When an emergency operator picked up, the call quickly ended.

Police were able to trace the call and soon showed up at the home unannounced. According to the man of the house, his 4-month-old puppy had stepped on his phone with its paw and unintentionally dialed 911.

Officers decided to run a criminal check on the dog owner, as part of routine procedure. When the result came back, police discovered the man had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court from a previous date in April.

The male was quickly cuffed and taken to a nearby police station. Even though he was released a short time later, the puppy’s loyalty may be in question.

Police seemed to approve of the pooch’s behavior. A press release issue by the department suggested the dog could be an “up and coming police K9”.
