It can happen to anyone - falling asleep behind the wheel. A woman in New Zealand is lucky to be alive after driving 185 miles from her home in Hamilton to Auckland completely passed out.

She then continued on the sleepy route by heading to Mt Maunganui. Five hours after she departed, a relative found the woman in the driveway of a past residence, hunched over the steering wheel of her car.

During the entire journey, the female was reportedly asleep and she even managed to text while unconsciously driving. The unnamed woman reportedly suffers from a sleeping condition and she had taken sleeping pills on the day of the incident.

During her long drive, police were doing their best to track the lady’s movements as a concerned friend had contacted emergency operators.

A police authority stated “We have sought an urgent order forbidding her to drive and to seek medical advice on her suitability to remain holding her driver's license. While her being found safe and well is a relief for everyone involved, the potential for tragedy was huge.”
