Plans to build a ski center next to the Olympic Park in Stratford, England have been announced.

It will be London’s first indoor ski arena, with projected building costs of over 300 million dollars.

Shopping center developer Westfield is footing the bill for the over 200 thousand square foot project, which has plans to be completed by 2015.

London’s Mayor Boris Johnson announced the plans, saying “Stratford’s status as a stunning new destination is confirmed by Westfield’s plans for a world-class indoor ski centre. This underscores the massive confidence in this area from investors which is delivering a real payback for taxpayers in terms of jobs and the regeneration of east London.”

They will reportedly use tons of real snow year round to cover the ski slopes, which will include an approximately 1000-foot run that is twice as big as the second largest ski run in the United Kingdom.

When it is completed the Stratford ski centre will be one of the largest indoor ski resorts in the world.
