Chinese quake victims moved

Chinese villagers settled into their new, temporary homes on Tuesday after a double earthquake struck the country's northwest, destroying many homes and killing at least 95.

Over 1,000 others were injured.

The Monday quakes hit two remote and mountainous counties.

The first tremor reached a magnitude of 5.9, followed by a 5.6 magnitude aftershock.

More than 1,200 buildings collapsed, while tens of thousands were left badly damaged.

China's state broadcaster said officials were providing food and water for the victims, in addition to shelter.

Some 3,000 police and rescue personnel are conducting operations at the quake's epicentre, but their efforts have been hampered by landslides and flooding.
