Dolphins are found in all parts of the world. They are described as highly intelligent and playful marine mammals.

Now, tourists in China are under fire after they reportedly lifted a dolphin up and basically handled it a manner that couldn’t be described as gentle. The dolphin had washed ashore in the country’s province of Hainan.

It is believed the marine mammal was injured before entering shallow waters. The dolphin may have been struck by a fishing boat.

But the situation got far more disturbing when the crowd of tourists decided to yank it up to pose for photographs rather than rushing to get help.

It remains unclear if the dolphin died of the previous injuries or from the hands of the tourists.

However, the fact that the creature could have been rescued sooner makes it a possibility that the dolphin could have survived the ordeal. The dolphin reportedly passed away from “excessive bleeding”.

In locations all over, dolphin populations are being threatened directly by pollution and hunting, as well as indirectly when caught up in tuna or whaling operations.
