NASA’s Cassini Will Take Earth's Photo From Millions of Miles Away

The Cassini spacecraft will soon be capturing a snapshot of planet Earth from hundreds of millions of miles away. Earth will be photographed as a tiny blue dot between the rings of Saturn.
NASA is behind some of the world’s most iconic images. The Cassini spacecraft will soon be capturing a snapshot of planet Earth from hundreds of millions of miles away.
Cassini is currently conducting an exploration around Saturn and the photo-shoot is slated for July 19th. Earth will be photographed as a tiny blue dot between the rings of Saturn. It will be a mosaic portrait, showcasing multiple images.
A Cassini project scientist stated “Ever since we caught sight of the Earth among the rings of Saturn in September 2006 in a mosaic that has become one of Cassini's most beloved images, I have wanted to do it all over again, only better.”
NASA has invited the public to recognize the historic event as the photo is being taken.
The picture will be captured while Saturn is eclipsing the sun from Cassini’s viewpoint.
Only two Cassini eclipse mosaics have been taken in the past. The newest one will be the first to snap the Saturn system with Earth in natural color.
