A supercomputer called the Tianhe-2, meaning Milky Way-2, which has been developed by the National University of Defense Technology in China, was crowned the most powerful computer system in the world.

It is almost twice as fast as the second fastest supercomputer from the United States, which is kept at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.

The system wasn’t supposed to be ready until 2015, but it dominated the other computers that were entered into the International Supercomputing Conference in Leipzig, Germany.

Tianhe-2 is capable of doing the equivalent of over 33 thousand trillion calculations per second, and will be installed at the national Supercomputer Centre in Guangzhou, Southern China.

China is now home to 66 of the fastest computers in the world, with many of the Tianhe-2 components designed, manufactured and utilized in China.

The US still has the most supercomputers in the world with 252 out of 500, including the second and third fastest.
