Cell Phone Smuggling Cat Busted in a Russian Prison

Inmates can be very creative when it comes to smuggling goods into prisons. Jail guards in the northern Republic of Komi, located in Russia have busted an unlikely suspect carrying banned items.

The culprit was a cat. An authority at the penitentiary service department stated “Two packages were taped to the animal's back. When the packages were unwrapped, guards found objects prohibited in the penitentiary facility — two cell phones with batteries and chargers.”

Alert guards noticed the sneaky feline while it was trying to climb a fence outside the prison. It is currently not known what penitentiary authorities decided to do with the kitty.

It has been reported that this is the first incident at the Komi prison where inmates opted to utilize a cat for smuggling purposes.

According to the FBI, prison guards across the world deal with inmates’ constant attempts to sneak cell phones into jails.
