Bob Oddy encourages the use of London cabs as the safest and most efficient way to get around the city. He has been personally licensced since 1966, working in the London cab industry ever since. He is currently the Deputy General Secretary of the LTDA (London Taxi Drivers Association). He also holds the title of an Advisor to the Computer Cab Company Ltd. For fifteen years, he has been encouraging the restriction or ban of rickshaws and pedicabs, which he believes are not as safe as London cabs. He has cited several instances in which a passenger or pedestrian were injured in an accident involving a pedicab.
He advocates the use of trained London cab drivers, stating their knowledge and that training makes them the best in the world. The in-depth training the drivers receive is another passion for Bob, as some believe using the sat-nav systems would be better for modern travellers. Bob disagrees, stating that the Knowledge of London training is what makes London cabs the best in the world.
